Origins: The current Aberdeen Football Club was formed on 14th April, 1903 with the merger of three city clubs, Aberdeen, Victoria United and Orion. They won the Aberdeenshire Cup in their first full season and applied for membership of the Scottish League for the following season, being elected to its Second Division. The club was elected to an enlarged First Division for the 1905-06 season and has played in the top tier of Scottish football ever since.
